The Duke Endosurgery Center is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary center with highly trained surgeons and state-of-the-art technology. The Center is dedicated to fostering collaboration and advancing education through research and innovative techniques in the new field of minimally invasive surgery (MIS). Our specialists are not limited to any particular field, but represent most specialties including general and gastrointestinal surgery, endocrine surgery, colorectal surgery, cancer surgery, weight-loss, robotic, transplantation, cardiovascular and thoracic, orthopaedic, gynecologic, and otolaryngological surgery.
We believe the future of all surgery lies in the area of minimally invasive access techniques and strive to lead the way in this exciting new approach to surgery, as well as to educate surgeons in this rapidly evolving field.

The Center is fully equipped with dedicated, high-tech operating rooms, “connected” conference suites for viewing of live surgical procedures at Duke and beyond, and practical “hands-on” laboratories. In addition, the Center offers the latest technologies in telemedicine, providing networked visual communications and video conferencing to connect the Center’s education facilities with virtually any center in the world.
Our Center of Excellence functions as the hub of educational efforts in minimally invasive techniques for Duke residents and faculty, referring physicians, and visiting surgeons. Its rich history has resulted in several hundred surgeons and residents being trained and numerous presentations published. Duke University Medical Center is consistently rated as one of the best academic medical centers in the nation, and our Endosurgery Fellowship Program is among the earliest established laparoscopic training programs in the United States. Currently entering its thirteenth recruiting season, graduating fellows have assumed important faculty positions at a number of leading universities.
The Center is committed to Duke Surgery’s overall mission of excellence, innovation, and leadership in meeting the health care needs of the people we serve and fostering the very best medical education and biomedical research.
